VaLynn Purvis always had a knack for fun. From an early age she had an interest in games and activities with children and families.
This interest in fun led her to establish her own business, Party to Go! in Los Alamos. The business was formed two years ago. In the past, she has participated in Fourth of July Carnival at the Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints Church and offered balloon animals and games at activities at Chamisa and Pion elementary schools. Party To Go! offers its services at family and high school reunions, and kids’ birthday parties.
Purvis provides balloon animals, face painting, magic tricks and other carnival-related items such as parachute games, gunny sack races and milk jug tosses.
She added she hopes to make the business “bigger and better” by offering activities for teens and adults.
Purvis doesn’t offer these things alone; her family gets involved in the fun. Her daughter, Kelani, 13, paints faces; son, Clayton, 11, does balloon animals and helps with all games; and other son, Russell, 9, performs magic tricks. She added she looks forward to inviting her daughters Melia, 7, and Leana, 5, to participate.
Involving her children in the business not only teaches them new skills, but also allows them to help others have fun.
