Taking Los Alamos by storm

Missionary John Wakabi of Uganda has worked in the U.S. since 2001 after receiving a call from a higher power.

“God sent me here,” he said, “to bring the message of repentance and healing.”

He has spread this message all over the country, traveling to Texas, Colorado, North Carolina and Washington, D.C. He also spent time in Espaola in June where more than 1,000 people attended his service.

Now, Wakabi is bringing his message to Los Alamos. Local churches are sponsoring his Revival Storms, which will be held at 7 p.m. Sept. 19-21 at Duane Smith Auditorium.

During the Revival Storms, there will be praise and worship from different groups in the community.

“We are going to pray for the sick (and) plan to have a special Holy Communion service,” Wakabi said. “The intention of this meeting is to bring the community of Los Alamos, all the churches in different denominations together in unique services.”

His vision is to “tear down the walls and differences so we can concentrate on one common goal to reach the lost souls.”

His message is geared toward young people and adults.

Wakabi reaches out to people in his home country, too. He and his sister are the founders of the Bethel Worship Centers, an organization made up of 100 churches nation-wide.
