Time is running out for early-bird registration for the 2008 Los Alamos Dog Jog, which will be held April 26. Early registrants can save $5 off of the $20 entry fee if the registration form and fee is received by Friday.
Each registered individual, whether actually participating in the event or not, will receive a Dog Jog T-shirt with a logo designed by White Rock fifth-grader Emily Orr and a packet filled with entertaining, and educational dog-related information; exceptions are entries paying only the $5 entry fee or free entries.
Dogs and their human companions will gather at Chamisa Elementary School in White Rock by 7:50 a.m. April 26, to run the 5-kilometer course or walk the 2-mile course in the 11th annual Dog Jog. Race prizes and awards will be given for the fastest runners, walkers and dogs in all kinds of fun categories. Registration will be accepted as late as the morning of the race between 7-7:50 a.m. Participants registering the day of the race will receive their T-shirts after the race.
Post-race activities will include the awards ceremony and a drawing for numerous prizes, as well as booths for coffee and burritos, along with doggie charms and doggie crafts from top sponsor Pet Pangaea. There will also be a bake sale with goodies for both dogs and humans, so plan to stick around after the race for all the excitement.
