The Board of Directors of the Los Alamos Commerce and Development Corporation (LACDC) announced Monday the hiring of Patrick Sullivan as the Executive Director of LACDC effective Nov. 10.
“The board conducted an exhaustive and thorough nationwide search and chose a solid, local candidate to be the Director,” said Board Member Katherine Chartrand who led the search committee, “Patrick stood out in a strong field because he knows the community and LACDC, and knows how the organization can be effective.”
The search committee ran a unique search effort that allowed for in-depth discussion between the candidates and a wide range of stakeholders.
“I want to thank Katharine Chartrand for leading the search committee and running such an inclusive, and effective process. Getting input from community members and LACDC staff was extremely valuable,” said Bill Wadt, President of the LACDC Board of Directors.
Wadt also stated, “I am truly excited about the selection of Patrick Sullivan. He is an amazing young man who has worked successfully at the New Mexico Consortium, LANL, LACDC, and LANB, which gives him unusual insights into what works and what doesn’t for economic development in Los Alamos. The board and I look forward to working with him on making our local economy more vibrant and attractive to new and existing businesses.”
Sullivan is a previous employee of LACDC where he worked as the Business Development Director for seven years. In that capacity he led programs related to business retention, recruitment and expansion. He also managed the business incubation program
During his time at LACDC Sullivan also served as the Director of the UNM-Los Alamos Small Business Development Center, where he facilitated business advising, entrepreneurial coaching, and business plan development assistance for business clients and entrepreneurs.
Sullivan left LACDC in 2010 to work as a financial business analyst for the Los Alamos National Laboratory and, most recently, as the Financial Manager of the New Mexico Consortium.
At the consortium, Sullivan led the finance team responsible for the accounting, planning and analysis of the company’s funding.
He was also the main interface with local governmental organizations on behalf of the consortium.
Prior to coming to Los Alamos, Sullivan received his MBA from University of Texas at Dallas. He received his Bachelor of Science in Medical Technology at Texas Tech University.
Sullivan and his wife Erica have lived in Los Alamos since 2002.
