Students place first at music competition

Three piano students from Los Alamos placed first in their level in the Professional Music Teachers of New Mexico Northeast One Honors competition that was in Santa Fe on Oct. 2.
Twenty-four students from Northern New Mexico entered this competition.
The winners went on to the State Conference that was in Albuquerque on Nov. 6 and competed against five other districts.
The first place winner at the State level in each category will play on the winner’s recital at the convention, get a cash award, a trophy and a certificate of recognition.
Los Alamos students winning first in Level I (ages 8-9) are Presley Gao and Jennifer Wang; placing first in Level II is Victor Kim (ages 10-11); Steven Chen placed third; Jerry Li, Honorable Mention; and Katherine Wang placed first in Level III (ages 12-13).
