It was a close finish at this week’s Atomic City Roadrunners’ Pace Race.
This week’s race was Tuesday starting along Pipeline Road, just south of White Rock.
Nikol Strother earned the win by just .16 seconds. Her predicted finish time was off by just 2.69 seconds, topping a runner, identified only as “Nick Pv,” who was off by 2.85 seconds.
All the best predictions Tuesday were made by runners on the 3-mile course. Ted Romero was off by just six seconds on the longer course, while the best prediction on the 1-mile course was made by Joan Williams, who was 75 seconds off.
Strother, who won the Pace Race two weeks ago, not only had the best prediction but was also the fastest 3-mile finisher with her time of 21 minutes, 37 seconds.
On the short course, the fastest finisher was Patricia Burnside at 9:39.
The next Pace Race will be Tuesday starting at Quemazon Montesori’s play lot on Brisa del Bosque.
Race time is 6 p.m.
