It was tough predicting at this week’s Atomic City Roadrunners’ Pace Race.
The Pace Race is a weekly event, hosted by the Roadrunners, which is run at various spots around Los Alamos County. This week’s race, on Tuesday, was on an old wagon road in the hills about Los Alamos National Laboratory’s S-Site.
The top predictor this week was Nikol Strother, who also ended up as the fastest finisher on the 3-mile course. Strother finished her race in a time of 20:46, which was 63 seconds off her predicted finish time.
Strother nipped David Kratzer (71 seconds) and Susan Krohn (76 seconds) for the best prediction. Krohn’s prediction was the best on the 1-mile course.
The fastest finish on the shorter course was Patricia Burnside, who finished in 9:48.
The next Pace Race is set for Tuesday. It will begin at the corner of Barranca and Navajo Roads on Barranca Mesa. Race time is 6 p.m.
There will be four possible courses will be set up for runners and walkers in the upcoming race.
