LA soccer teams rout Santa Fe
The Los Alamos Hilltopper boys and girls soccer teams both remained undefeated in District 2AAAA play, thrashing Santa Fe Saturday in a doubleheader.
The Hilltopper boys thumped the Santa Fe Demons, the newcomers into the district, 6-0, while the Hilltopper girls blasted the Demons 11-1 at home.
Both teams improved to 2-0 in 2AAAA play with the victories at Sullivan Field in Saturday’s doubleheader.
It was both the Los Alamos girls’ biggest goal total of the season and their biggest margin of victory against Santa Fe, which replaces Taos, a Class AAAA state tournament qualifier in 2009, this season.
For Los Alamos’ boys, it was their third shutout win of the season.
Los Alamos’ girls will have a quiet week this week, with their next game set for Saturday against Capital, another district foe, while Los Alamos’ boys will play Piedra Vista Wednesday in a nondistrict contest. Wednesday’s boys game is a rematch of the teams’ Class AAAA semifinal contest last season.
