Rau finishes third at Sun Country Junior Championship
Golfer Sean Rau finished third in his age bracket at the Sun Country PGA Junior Tour Championship.
The tournament was held July 29-30 at Albuquerque's Desert Greens Golf Course.
Rau shot a 55 the first day and a 54 the second day in nine holes, finishing six shots back of the division co-champions Michael Elias and Cristoffer Rudosky.
Elias and Rudosky finished with a two-day total of 101 in the boys 7-8 age bracket.
At the event, James Lee of Albuquerque and Alexia Heist of El Paso, Texas, qualified for the Junior PGA National Championship, which will be held Aug. 13-16 at Maineville, Ohio.
They were the overall winners among the boys and girls competing. Both play in the 13-14 age group.
Also at the Sun Country Championship, Jonathan Osden of Los Alamos shot a 48 and 45 in the nine-hole, two-day event, placing him fifth in the boys 9-10 division. Los Alamos’ Thomas Herrera carded an 89 and a 93 in two 18-hole rounds, finishing 19th in the boys 15-16 division.
NRA banquet set for Sept. 13
Members of the Los Alamos Sportsman’s Club will attend a Friends of the NRA Banquet Sept. 13 at the Lodge at Santa Fe.
Tickets are $35 per person or $65 per couple.
