The Majors All-Star Little League tournaments start Sunday in White Rock, while the Juniors tournament, which was scheduled to start Sunday, has been pushed back to Monday.
Sunday's Majors tournament games start at 11:30 a.m. at Byers Field and Monday's Juniors tournament games start at 5:30 p.m. at Virchow Field.
White Rock Little League will face Española Valley Little League at 11:30 a.m. Sunday in the Majors tournament opener, while Los Alamos Little League takes on Santa Fe American Little League at 6 p.m.
In the Juniors tournament, White Rock and Los Alamos play each other at 7:30 p.m.
Los Alamos High School softball program's coaching staff will hold a pitching clinic July 18.
The clinic will be held from 9:30 a.m.-2 p.m. at Overlook Park's Minors A Field.
The pitching clinic is open to girls ages 12-18. There is no charge for participation, but participants should bring sunscreen, water and a sack lunch.
Basic techniques of fastpitch will be reviewed at the clinic as well as advanced techniques for more experienced pitchers. Other basic warm-up techniques will be covered.

Piñon Pool in White Rock will be holding several swimming lesson sessions throughout the month of July.
The lessons are open to members of the pool and to the public. Lessons will be held from 9:30-10:15 a.m.
A new session is scheduled to begin Monday and will continue through Friday at the pool. They are for beginning and intermediate swimmers.
Weekly sessions start each Monday during the month of July.
Price for participation is $20 for pool members, $30 for non-pool members.
Registration is open for the Family YMCA's Independence Day Firecracker 5K Fun Run.
The run will be held July 4 at 8 a.m. Check-in starts at 7:30 a.m.
All participants are eligible for prizes in a lottery-draw format. The race has separate male, female and age divisions. Walkers are welcome, but there is not a separate walkers' division.
Athletes who have signed a YMCA liability waiver may register online at www.laymca.org. Registrations are also being taken at the YMCA.
Price for participation is $20 thereafter. T-shirts will be given to the first 130 entrants.

The Triatomics Multisport Club and Los Alamos County Recreation Division are hosting the Splash N Dash training events this summer.
These courses are designed to prepare individuals for the Los Alamos Triathlon, which will be held Aug. 15.
Participants of the Splash N Dash events will swim laps at the Larry R. Walkup Aquatic Center and run a course along Canyon Road.
The Splash N Dash events will be held July 8, July 22 and Aug. 5. Registration will be held on the day of the event starting at 6:20 p.m. Pre-event meetings are scheduled for 6:55 p.m. and start times are set for 7 p.m.
The event is not a race, but is timed. Participation in Splash N Dash is free.

The Family YMCA of Los Alamos has extended its registration deadline for its Bumpers youth volleyball program.
Registration for the program is open until July 6 and instruction begins July 7.
Bumpers is an introductory volleyball class for girls and boys ages 4 through 7. Play is on 4-foot nets and beach balls and other soft balls are used.
The program runs through Aug. 12.
Price for participation is $32 for YMCA members, $45 for program members. Volunteer coaches are also being sought.

The Los Alamos High School girls soccer team will hold a summer workshop starting in early August.
The camp is designed for those planning to try out for the 2009 team but any girls in grades 4-8 are also welcome to participate.
The workshop is scheduled for Aug. 3-7 at the Pueblo Complex. It will run from 4:30-7:30 p.m.
Price for participation is $75. Coaches and former LAHS players will lead the instruction.
All proceeds for the camp go to the LAHS girls soccer program.

The Northern New Mexico Radio-Controlled Car Club will host its fifth race of the season July 11.
The race will be held at Overlook Park Raceway. Registration starts at 10 a.m.
This season, the NNMRCCC features a cost-controlled class of 1/10-scale electric short-course trucks, as well as classes for 1/10-scale electric touring cars, 2-wheel drive buggies and nitro trucks, 1/8-scale nitro or electric buggies and monster trucks and 1/5-scale gas buggies and trucks.
Price for participation is $5 per car. New racers can compete at no charge.

The High Flyers Club is currently accepting new gymnastics students.
High Flyers is a new gymnastics club offering year-round, non-competitive recreational gymnastics for boys and girls ages 3 to 14. Classes emphasize fundamentals of body control and use of equipment.
Classes are being held at the YMCA's gymnasium. Summer classes will be held Thursday afternoons and evenings and Saturday mornings. Additional days and times will be offered starting in August.
Price for participation is $45 per person, plus a $20 annual registration fee.

The Hilltopper Spirit Camp is scheduled for the first week of August at Los Alamos High School's Auxiliary Gym.
The camp, which will run from 1-2:30 p.m. Aug. 3-6, will be led by the coaching staff and cheerleaders from LAHS' spirit squad. It is for students in grades 1-8.
The spirit camp will place emphasis on cheer fundamentals, sideline chants and dance.
Price for participation is $40 for one child, $30 for each additional sibling.
