Hockey team at home tonight

The Los Alamos Hilltopper ice hockey team will play its final home game of the season tonight at Los Alamos County Ice Rink.

The game, against Santa Fe’s Blue Jackets, is scheduled for 7 p.m. Admission is free.

At Friday night’s game, the Hilltoppers will honor their seniors.

Los Alamos also will be in action Saturday when it plays Eldorado.

Saturday’s game is scheduled for 1 p.m. in Albuquerque.

Free throw contest set for Sunday

The Los Alamos Knights of Columbus is sponsoring its 2009 Free Throw Championship.

The local free throw competition is scheduled for Sunday at Griffith Gymnasium. The event is being co-sponsored by the Los Alamos Hilltopper boys basketball team.

All boys and girls who are age 10-14 as of Jan. 1 are eligible to participate.

Interested boys and girls must furnish proof of age and have written parental consent to participate.

On-site registration will take place from noon-12:45 p.m. on the day of the event.

LALL holding meeting Feb. 2

Los Alamos Little League will hold an organizational meeting for the 2009 baseball and softball seasons Feb. 2.

The meeting will be held at 7 p.m. in Mesa Public Library’s Meeting Room 2.

Anyone interested in volunteering to help LALL this year is encouraged to attend.

Jr. golf tour registration opening soon

The Sun Country PGA Junior Golf Tour will open registrations for its 2009 season Feb. 2.

The Junior Tour hosts approximately 50 golf tournaments across New Mexico and El Paso, Texas, each year.

Membership for 2009 is $35.

Individual tournament entries are $25 except for the tour championship and qualifying events. Acceptance is limited to the first 600 registrants.
