Memorial golf tourney set for June 27

The 17th annual Benito Garcia Memorial Golf Tournament will be held June 27 at the Marty Sanchez Links de Santa Fe.

The scramble-format tournament is a 9 a.m. shotgun start. Teams consist of A, B, C and D players and grouping is determined by Links officials.

Price for participation is $100 per player. The entry fee includes cart, greens fees and lunch.

Proceeds from the tournament go to the Benito Garcia memorial scholarship fund, which awards two $1,000 scholarships annually to Pojoaque High School students.

Free pitching clinic at Overlook today

Members of the Los Alamos High School softball coaching staff will hold a pitching clinic today.

The pitching clinic will be held from 3-5 p.m. at Overlook Park in White Rock. It is open to girls ages 12-18. Pitchers of all ability are welcome.

Participation in the clinic is free.

Volleyball camps start June 16

The Los Alamos Summer Volleyball Camps will be held June 16-27 at Griffith Gymnasium.

The camps, which will be led by the Los Alamos High School coaching staff, are for boys and girls from first through 12th grades. Camp activities will be tailored to the experience level of the players.

There are two one-week sessions scheduled. Players may register for one week or both weeks.

Camp for grades one through five are scheduled from 2-3 p.m. June 16-20 and June 23-27. Grades six through eight will be from 3-4:30 p.m. those same days. Grades 9 through 12 will run 5:30-8 p.m. June 16-19 and June 23-26.

Price for participation for grades 1-5 is $35 for one week or $65 for two weeks. For grades 6-8, the prices are $40 for one week, $75 for two weeks and for 9-12 it’s $45 for one week and $85 for two weeks.

Youth track camp opens Monday

KSC Summer Youth Track Camp will have several sessions scheduled this summer.

KSC Camp is open to boys and girls 6-13.

The camp will cover the basics of track and field competition. USA Track and Field-certified coach and former professional track athlete Bob Koski will run the sessions.

The first session will start Monday. Workouts will be held from 6-7 p.m.

Price for participation is $40 per athlete. Participants will receive a medal and a T-shirt.

Online LA triathlon registration open

Online registration for the 34th annual Los Alamos Triathlon is now open.

Interested participants may visit www.active.com to register for the event, which is scheduled for Aug. 16.

Price for participation in the triathlon is $50 per single competitor, $90 for two-person teams and $120 for three-person teams.

Soccer camp starts Monday

New Mexico Highlands University will hold a summer soccer camp starting Monday.

The camp will be held at Overlook Park through Thursday. It will run from 9 a.m.-noon each day.

The amp is open to all players ages 6-14.

Price for participation is $75.
