Triatomics’ Splash-N-Dash starts Wednesday

The Triatomics Multisports Club and the Los Alamos County Recreation Division will be sponsoring the Splash-N-Dash series.

The Splash-N-Dash will start Wednesday, and additional events will be held July 2, July 16 and July 30.

Two training courses will be available. The short course features a 200-yard swim, 3K run and the long course is a 400-yard swim and 5K run.

The training events are free to the public. Participants of all ages and skill levels are welcome. Each event is limited to 80 participants.

Firecracker 5K registration open at YMCA

The Family YMCA of Los Alamos is now taking registrations for its Independence Day Firecracker 5K Fun Run.

The race starts at 8 a.m. July 4. Price for participation is $15 for one family member, $10 for the second family member, and $8 for each additional member.

Memorial golf tourney is scheduled for June 27

The 17th annual Benito Garcia Memorial Golf Tournament will be held June 27 at the Marty Sanchez Links de Santa Fe.

The scramble-format tournament is a 9 a.m. shotgun start. Teams consist of A, B, C and D players and grouping is determined by Links officials.

Price for participation is $100 per player. The entry fee includes cart, greens fees and lunch.

Proceeds from the tournament go to the Benito Garcia memorial scholarship fund, which awards two $1,000 scholarships annually to Pojoaque High School students.

Registrations are due by June 23.

Volleyball camp opens Monday

The Los Alamos Summer Volleyball Camps will start Monday at Griffith Gymnasium.

The camps, which will be led by the Los Alamos High School coaching staff, are for boys and girls from first through 12th grades. Camp activities will be tailored to the experience level of the players.

There are two one-week sessions scheduled. Players may register for one week or both weeks.

Camp for grades one through five are scheduled from 2-3 p.m. June 16-20 and June 23-27. Grades six through eight will be from 3-4:30 p.m. those same days. Grades 9 through 12 will run 5:30-8 p.m. June 16-19 and June 23-26.

Price for participation for grades 1-5 is $35 for one week or $65 for two weeks. For grades 6-8, the prices are $40 for one week, $75 for two weeks and for 9-12 it's $45 for one week and $85 for two weeks.

KSC Summer Youth Track Camp will have several sessions scheduled this summer.

KSC Camp is open to boys and girls 6-13.

The camp will cover the basics of track and field competition. USA Track and Field-certified coach and former professional track athlete Bob Koski will run the sessions.

The next session is scheduled June 23-26. Workouts will be held from 6-7 p.m.

Price for participation is $40 per athlete. Participants will receive a medal and a T-shirt.
