No LA players picked for North-South volleyball
The Los Alamos Hilltopper volleyball team was shut out of the selections for the Class 4A-5A All-Star Game this year.
None of the Hilltoppers’ seniors were picked to participate on the North All-Star team this season.
The All-Star contests are held following the school year for top-performing senior athletes in various sports. The events are conducted by the New Mexico High School Coaches Association. Participants must be graduating seniors.
Los Alamos advanced to the Class 4A semifinals before falling to longtime rival St. Pius X.
St. Pius put two selections on the North All-Star team, Sara Weber and Felicity Jackson. Class 5A Cleveland High School led all North schools with three selections.
Jenna Elkins and Hannah Ballew of Class 4A champion Artesia were picked for the South All-Star team. Gadsden High School had four selections to lead all big schools.
For Pojoaque, the Class 3A state champion, Lynne Cash and Cara Salazar earned North 2A-3A All-Star nods.
