Turkey Trot set for Nov. 20

The annual Turkey Trot will return Nov. 20.
The Turkey Trot is a benefit run for the local CROP organization. It will start at Los Alamos Middle School at 2 p.m.
The run is 2.57 miles.
The top 25 finishers will be recognized and all participants have a chance to win turkeys and pumpkin pies in a random drawing. Top participants from the 2011 Pace Race season will also be recognized.

Yum Run to return Saturday

The seventh annual Ruby K’s Yum Run is scheduled for Saturday.
The Yum Run features a 5K run/walk and a 10K trail run/walk. Those races start at 8 a.m., while a 1K fun run/walk is scheduled for 9:30 a.m. Races will start and end at Ruby K’s on Central Avenue.
Price for participation are $30 for the 10K race, $25 for the 5K and $15 for the fun run/walk. Discounts are available for family racers.
Registration forms are available online at www.rubykbagel.com or may be picked up at the Los Alamos Fitness Center, the YMCA or Mesa Public Library.

Youth basketball registration is open at the YMCA

Registration is open for the Family YMCA’s youth basketball league.
The league is open for boys and girls in grades 1-8. Registration is open through Nov. 9 for players in elementary school and through Jan. 2 for players in middle school.
The league is a recreational and development league for players of all abilities. Practices will be twice per week with games played on Saturdays.
Price for participation is $65 for YMCA members, $97 for nonmembers. Scholarships may be available from the United Way of Northern New Mexico.
Volunteer coaches are also being sought.
