Jr. ’Topper basketball program starts Saturday
Los Alamos High School’s basketball programs will host the first Jr. ‘Toppers skills session Saturday.
Jr. ‘Toppers is for boys and girls ages 4-13. The focus of the program will be to introduce new players to the high school programs and provide fundamental skills instruction and core values.
Later during the year, players will have a chance to play in the Y basketball league and in the Amateur Athletic Union to play competitively.
Sessions will run from 8-9 a.m. Saturdays.

Youth hockey registration is now open
Registration for the 2010-11 Los Alamos Hockey Association season is now open.
LAHA will host three equipment rental sessions, including Sunday from 1-5 p.m. at the Los Alamos County Ice Rink. Other sessions are set for Oct. 30 and Nov. 4.
LAHA offers recreational play for boys and girls ages 4-19.
Also, tryouts for the Los Alamos High School varsity team are scheduled for Oct. 2-3 at the Genoveva Chavez Community Center in Santa Fe.

Beginning fencing will start Tuesday
The Y’s beginning fencing class will start Tuesday at the Y gymnasium.
The beginning fencing class is designed for those who have no previous fencing experience. Instruction will focus on footwork and blade skills.
Interested fencers must be 10 years old.
Class size will be limited, so early registration is encouraged.

Free youth volleyball clinic is Sunday
The Los Alamos Hilltopper volleyball program will offer a series of free clinics for players in grades 3-6 starting Sunday.
The clinics will be held in Griffith Gymnasium from 1:30-3:30 p.m. Clinics will also be held Oct. 10 and Oct. 17.
Parents or guardians must sign students in and out of each clinic in order to participate.
