LASG hosting open house
Los Alamos School of Gymnastics is holding an open house Monday at its gym, 555 North Mesa Road.
LASG is celebrating Loui Janecky's 30th anniversary as director of the program. All members of the community, as well as past and present gymnasts and families, are welcomed to attend.
The open house will be from 6-7 p.m. Light refreshments will be served.
Golf tourney to benefit baseball, softball teams
The Los Alamos High School baseball and softball teams will host the Diamonds in the Rough golf tournament Aug. 27 at Los Alamos Golf Course.
The tournament is a four-player scramble format. Registrations must be received by Saturday.
Price for participation is $80 per player. Price includes greens fees, cart, T-shirt and dinner by Mi Casita. All proceeds will benefit the LAHS baseball and softball programs.

Bower Memorial Run is Sept. 10
The Jerry Bower Memorial 5K Run is scheduled for Sept. 10 in Los Alamos.
Proceeds from the run will go to benefit the Alzheimer's Association. Race time is 5 p.m.
Day-of registration will start at 4 p.m. at the Betty Ehart Senior Center. The race will start from the senior center. Registration forms can also be picked up at several spots around the county.
Price for participation is $25. Participants receive a T-shirt.

7th, 8th grade hoops registration open
The Family YMCA of Los Alamos is accepting registrations for its seventh- and eighth-grade coed basketball program.
The coed program is for boys and girls of all basketball abilities. Practices will be conducted twice per week at Los Alamos Middle School.
Price for participation is $65 for YMCA members, $97 for nonmembers. Scholarships may be available from the United Way of Northern New Mexico.
Volunteers are also being sought to help coach. No previous coaching experience is necessary.
