Splash N Dash starts June 29

The first Splash N Dash of the season will take place June 29 starting at the Larry R. Walkup Aquatic Center.
The Splash N Dash, a free event, is open to the public and is geared toward those training for the Los Alamos Triathlon. Registration for the event is limited to 75 participants.
Interested participants may sign up at the aquatic center on the day of the event starting at 6:20 p.m. Participants may choose a 400-yard swim and 5K run or a 200-yard swim and 3K run.

Firecracker 5K registration is open

The Family YMCA of Los Alamos is accepting registrations for its Firecracker 5K Fun Run.
The Firecracker 5K is scheduled for July 4. Race time is 8 a.m.
The race is for runners of all ages. Prizes will be awarded to the top male and female finishers as well as in other categories.
Walkers may also participate, but there will not be a separate walking division this year.
Price for participation is $20 for those registering in June and $30 for those registering in July.

High Flyers classes are ongoing

High Flyers Gymnastics is offering weekly summer courses at the YMCA gymnasium.High Flyers classes will meet Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays. Classes are designed for boys and girls ages 3-14.
Instruction will be given on basic tumbling skills. Strength, flexibility and balance will be emphasized.

Sullivan Field is closed for summer

Los Alamos Public Schools announced that Sullivan Field and the running track are closed for the summer.
The closure of Sullivan Field is for crews to install a new artificial playing surface.
