Cross country teams holding meeting June 8
The Los Alamos Hilltopper boys and girls cross country team will hold a meeting June 8 at Los Alamos Middle School.
Anyone interested in participating in cross country during the fall 2011 season is strongly encouraged to attend. Information on the season will be discussed, followed by an informal group run.
The meeting is set for 5:15 p.m. in Portable 1.

Sullivan Field is closed
Los Alamos Public Schools announced that Sullivan Field and the running track are closed for the summer.
The closure of Sullivan Field is for crews to install a new artificial playing surface.
Those with questions should call the LAHS athletic office at 663-2531.
LA wrestling camp starts June 6
The Los Alamos Hilltopper wrestling program will host the High-Altitude Camp June 6-8.
The camp, for boys and girls in grades 3-12, will include instruction from Nate Yetzer, assistant coach at Virginia Tech University.
Wrestlers in grades 3-5 will have half-day sessions at the camp. Wrestlers in grades 6-12 will attend full-day sessions.
Price for participation is $60 for wrestlers in grades 3-5, $100 for grades 6-12.

Butterfly Run 5K set
The Pueblo of Pojoaque Wellness Center will host its 13th annual Butterfly Run 19.
The Butterfly Run, which includes a 10K race, 5K race and 1-mile fitness walk, starts at 7 a.m.
Prizes will be given for the top three male and female finishers in each event.

Tour de LA registration is open online
The Roadrunners Cycling Club will host the 39th annual Tour de Los Alamos June 19.
The Tour de Los Alamos is a road cycling race for men, women and juniors. The race consists of several distance categories for cyclists of different abilities.
Price for participation is $25 prior to the day of the race, $45 on race day. All cyclists must have a USA Cycling license and an approved helmet.

Y’s Bumpers volleyball class starts soon
The Family YMCA of Los Alamos is accepting registrations for its Bumpers youth volleyball program.
Registration is open through June 27.
Bumpers is an introductory volleyball class for boys and girls in grades K-2. Play is on 4- and 5-foot nets with soft balls.
Price for participation is $32 for YMCA members, $48 for nonmembers. Volunteer coaches are also being sought.

Open baseball tryouts at NMMI are June 1
New Mexico Military Institute’s junior college baseball program will hold open tryouts June 1.
The NMMI Broncos will hold their tryout in Roswell. Any collegiate-eligible baseball player under age 22 is invited to attend. High school seniors interested in joining the Broncos for the 2012-13 season are also invited.
NMMI is a member of the Western Junior College Athletic Conference.
