Senior Athletic Awards Night is Thursday at Duane Smith
Los Alamos High School will host its Senior Athletic Awards Night Thursday.
The awards ceremony will start at 7 p.m. in the Duane Smith Auditorium. Any LAHS senior who earned a varsity letter during the 2011-12 academic year is invited to attend.

Burkett fires an ace
Mike Burkett scored the first hole-in-one of the 2012 season at Los Alamos Golf Course last week.
Burkett scored his ace on the 17th hole May 16. It was his first ever hole-in-one, which he scored with an 8-iron.
Burkett’s wife Karen witnessed the ace.
Hershey’s Track & Field returns to Los Alamos June 6
The Los Alamos County Recreation Division is hosting the Hershey’s Track & Field Program June 6.
The program is open to boys and girls ages 9-14. The competition will be at Sullivan Field starting at 10 a.m.
Interested participants must provide a copy of their birth certificate along with registration materials. There is no charge for participation.

Tuesday is deadline for ’Topper Soccer School registration
The Los Alamos High School boys soccer program is hosting its annual Soccer School starting June 4.
The Soccer School is for boys and girls ages 3-9.
Session 1 is set for June 4-8 at Sullivan Field. Session II will be June 18-22 at Rover Park in White Rock.
Price for participation is $35 for one session or $50 for both sessions. Registration deadline for the first session is Tuesday.

Jim Thorpe Race set for June 16
Registration opens this week for the fifth annual Jim Thorpe 5K Race.
The race serves as the Native American 5K national championship. It will be held June 16 at the Southwestern Polytechnic Institute, 9169 Coors Road NW, in Albuquerque.
The race is open to all Native Americans in Alaska and the contiguous 48 states. Registrants must be USA Track and Field members in good standing.
A community 5K race is also scheduled June 16. All interested persons may compete in that race.
