Dog Jog set for April 16

The 2011 Dog Jog is scheduled for April 16 in White Rock.
Registration is currently open for the Dog Jog, which features a 3.1-mile competitive race or a 2-mile fun run/walk.
Dogs may take part in the event, but participants are welcome without a dog.
The race is open to anyone 12 and over. The early registration fee of $20 ends March 26.
The event is a fundraiser for the Friends of the Shelter. Entry blanks are available at Animal Clinic of Los Alamos, Ridgeview Veterinary Hospital, Pet Pangaea or on the Friends of the Shelter website, www.lafos.org.

Atomic Man Duathlon returning to White Rock May 1

Registration is open for the 2011 Atomic Man Duathlon.
The Atomic Man Duathlon, which features two separate races, is scheduled for May 1. Both races start in White Rock.
The duathlon’s Little Boy race (4K run, 15K bike and 4K run) will start at 9:30 a.m. and the Fat Man race (10K run, 40K bike, 5K run) at 10 a.m.

Renovations to Sullivan Field are set to start May 12

Los Alamos High School’s athletic department announced that the installation of artificial turf at Sullivan Filed will start May 12.
Sullivan Field and the track will close from that time until the completion of the installation, which will be on or about Aug. 19.
During the installation of the turf, Mesa Field will also be closed. Mesa Field will be renovated into a new practice field for LAHS.
