Girls hoops game to be broadcast on KRSN

The Los Alamos-Grants girls basketball game, which is scheduled for 6 p.m., will be broadcast live on KRSN AM 1490.
Gene Mortensen, the “Voice of the Hilltoppers,” will call the action live from Grants. The game is the opening round contest of the Class 4A state tournament.
The game will also be streamed live on the Internet at the station’s website, krsnam1490.com.

Isotopes ticket sales, National Anthem tryouts are March 12

Albuquerque Isotopes’ single game tickets for the 2011 regular season, as well as the Triple-A championship game, will go on sale March 12.
Along with the start of single game ticket sales, the Isotopes will host their annual open house, Select-A-Seat promotion and auditions to sing the National Anthem.
Isotopes Park opens at 10 a.m. that day.
Those interested in auditioning to sing the National Anthem should register on the third floor of Isotopes Park. Auditions will be on a first-come, first-served basis.

Sullivan Field getting new turf starting May 12

Los Alamos High School’s athletic department announced that the installation of artificial turf at Sullivan Filed will start May 12.
Sullivan Field and the track will close from that time until the completion of the installation, which will be on or about Aug. 19.
During the installation of the turf, Mesa Field will also be closed. Mesa Field will be renovated into a new practice field for LAHS.

Run for Her Life to benefit breast cancer research

The first Run for Her Life 5K and 10K runs will be held March 20.
The races will start at the Mesa Trailhead near East Park. Racing starts at 9 a.m.
Registration forms are available at several locations around the county and online at www.atomicrunners.com.
Proceeds from the race will go to benefit breast cancer research.

Kinderkick sign-ups open

Registration for the Family YMCA’s Kinderkick program is now open. Registration continues through March 20.
Kinderkick is an introductory soccer program for kids 4-5 years old. Instruction and limited games are scheduled twice per week for six weeks.
Teams will meet at field in both Los Alamos and White Rock.
Volunteer coaches are also being sought for the program.
Price for participation is $32 for YMCA members, $48 for nonmembers. Scholarships may be available from the United Way of Northern New Mexico.
