Registration closing soon for YMCA Jr. Wrestling program
Registration for the Family YMCA of Los Alamos’ Junior Wrestling program will close Jan. 8.
The Junior Wrestling program is a developmental league for boys and girls in grades 1-6. Practices will be held afternoons on Tuesdays and Thursdays at the YMCA. Practices start Jan. 10.
The program is for youth of all abilities. A separate competitive league is also being offered.
Price for participation in the Junior league is $55 for YMCA members, $82 for nonmembers and $83 for members and $123 for nonmembers in the competitive league. Financial assistance may be available.

Chama hosting X-C, snowshoe event
The City of Chama is hosting the Chama Chile Ski Classic Jan. 14-16.
The Chama Chile Ski Classic consists of seven cross-country and snowshoe races during the three days.
Clinics on cross-country skiing, as well as broom hockey, Frisbee golf, as well as a costume contest and ice sculpture contest will be held, along with other events.

Women’s Weekend starts Feb. 10
K2 Skis and Pajarito Mountain will host the fourth annual K2 Women’s Weekend Feb. 10-12.
The Women’s Weekend is a not-for-profit event. Proceeds will provide financial assistance for New Mexico residents suffering from breast or cervical cancer. About $10,000 was raised last year.

Youth hoops clinics are Saturday
The Jr. Toppers basketball skills clinics are scheduled for Saturday.
A session for preschoolers through second grade students is set for 9 a.m. at Mountain School. Students in grades 3-8 will be at Los Alamos High School, also starting at 9 a.m.
The clinics are free of charge and are for both boys and girls.
