Aggies thump ’Roos in key WAC contest

The New Mexico State University Aggie men’s basketball team picked up a much-needed win and avenged an earlier Western Athletic Conference loss in a big way Thursday.

The Aggies hammered the Missouri-Kansas City Kangaroos at the Pan Am Center. The Aggies limited the Kangaroos to a miserable 26.4 percent shooting night as they cruised to a 71-48 victory.

While NMSU didn’t exactly torch Kansas City — it shot 42.1 percent for the game — it had good, balanced scoring. NMSU’s offense was paced by center Tshilidzi Nephawe’s 15 points.

The Aggies improved to 19-8 with the win and go to 8-3 in WAC play, keeping them within striking distance of conference leader Utah Valley.
