Soccer playoff tickets are $5

Los Alamos High School announced that tickets for Friday’s Los Alamos-Goddard boys soccer game, a first-round Class AAAA playoff game, will be $5, per New Mexico Activities Association rules. There will not be a student discount as LAHS originally announced.

Only NMAA-issued passes will be honored. No public schools’ activity passes or IDs will be accepted.

Atoms, Outlaws fall in title games

A pair of Los Alamos Young America Football League teams advanced to the finals of their divisions in the Santa Fe league. Both teams fell short of the title, however.

The Los Alamos Atoms, in the 6-8 year old division, were topped in the Chile Bowl, Santa Fe YAFL’s championship game, by the Santa Fe Cardinals, 14-0.

In the 9-10 year old division Chile Bowl contest, the Los Alamos Outlaws fell to the Santa Fe Lobos, 26-8.

The Atoms took third place in their divisional standings during the regular season.

Both the Outlaws and the Los Alamos Bombers finished second in their division conferences, while the Los Alamos Maddogs were fifth in the 11-12 division.

LAFC sends three to Falcon Open

A trio of Los Alamos Fencing Club members had respectable showing at a big tournament in Colorado Springs, Colo.

Tom Hill, Dominic Peterson and Jack Stafurik represented LAFC at the Falcon Open last weekend, an event which attracts some of the top fencers in the Rocky Mountain section.

In the senior mixed épée division, all three fencers picked up a bye into the direct elimination second round, but all three took defeats in their first matches.

Hill finished in 39th place out of 80 total competitors in senior mixed épée . Peterson wound up 46th overall, one spot ahead of Stafurik.

In senior mixed sabre, Peterson finished 21st out of 32 total entries.

LAFC fencers will compete  next at the New Mexico Open, which will be held at Santa Fe Preparatory School Nov. 14-15.

KRSN to broadcast football, soccer

KRSN-AM 1490 will broadcast both the Los Alamos Hilltopper boys soccer playoff game and the Hilltopper football game Friday. The Los Alamos-Goddard soccer game will start at 4 p.m. and the Los Alamos-Española Valley football game is scheduled for 7 p.m.
