Yum Run returns Oct. 26

The Yum Run/Walk is scheduled for Oct. 26.
The 5K, 10K and 1K event will start at 8 a.m. in front of Ruby K’s Bagel Shop on Central Ave.
The 10K race will mostly be run on the trail near the Larry R. Walkup Aquatic Center and a short downtown loop. The 5K race will consist of two downtown loops.
Both the 5K and 10K Runs will have age-graded handicaps for all ages for timing purposes.  
 All proceeds will benefit LA Cares.
Registrations can be picked up at Ruby K’s or the business’ website, rubykbagel.com.

Veterans Day 5K run to benefit LA’s Micah Andersen

The Honor. Remember. Act. 5K run is being held on Veterans Day to benefit local soldier Micah Andersen.
Andersen, a graduate of Los Alamos High School, was injured in Afghanistan by an IED. All proceeds from the race will go to him to offset costs of his recovery.
The run will be Nov. 11 at 9 a.m.
It will begin at 555 North Mesa Road.
Price for participation is $25, $35 for day-of registration.

Adult volleyball league starting

The Family YMCA of Los Alamos is hosting an adult 4-on-4 volleyball league starting Sunday.
The registration deadline is Thursday. Interested players may register as part of a team or may register as a “free agent” and be matched up with a team for the start of the league.
League matches will take place on Sundays between noon-6 p.m.
Price for participation is $20 for YMCA members, $30 for nonmembers. Team T-shirts will be provided.
