Yum Run returns Oct. 26
The Yum Run/Walk is scheduled for Oct. 26.
The 5K, 10K and 1K event will start at 8 a.m. in front of Ruby K’s Bagel Shop on Central Ave.
The 10K race will mostly be run on the trail near the Larry R. Walkup Aquatic Center and a short downtown loop. The 5K race will consist of two downtown loops.
Both the 5K and 10K Runs will have age-graded handicaps for all ages for timing purposes.  
 All proceeds will benefit LA Cares.
Registrations can be picked up at Ruby K’s or the business’ website, rubykbagel.com.

5K run to benefit Micah Andersen

The Honor. Remember. Act. 5K run is being held on Veterans Day to benefit local soldier Micah Andersen.
Andersen, a graduate of Los Alamos High School, was injured in Afghanistan by an IED. All proceeds from the race will go to him to offset costs of his recovery.
The run will be Nov. 11 at 9 a.m.
It will begin at 555 North Mesa Road.
Price for participation is $25, $35 for day-of registration.

Lobo athletics hosting National Anthem auditions Wednesday

The University of New Mexico Athletics Department will host auditions for National Anthem singers on Wednesday.
The auditions will be from 5-7 p.m. at The Pit in Albuquerque.
A total of 35 slots are available for basketball (17 men’s games and 18 women’s games) and spots are also available for other sports.
Each singer will have two minutes to perform a traditional version of the anthem. Singers will be notified of selections the week of Oct. 21-25.
Interested singers must reserve a time slot to audition. There will be no guarantee for walk-ins the day of auditions.
Those auditioning are asked to be prompt and ready to sing when they arrive at The Pit.

Those unable to make tryouts may submit an audio tape to the athletic department.
