LAYSL rec registration closes today
Los Alamos Youth Soccer League registration for its fall recreational league is open.
Interested youth may register for the league. Registration is open through today. Play begins in mid-August.
Price for participation for U6 play is $75 for the fall or $100 for the entire year. U8 through U14 play is $125 for the fall or $150 for the full year.

Cross country program will begin its preseason Aug. 11
The Los Alamos High School cross country program will begin official preseason workouts Aug. 11.
Interested participants should meet Aug. 10 at 6 p.m. in Auxiliary Gymnasium to collect physical examination information and receive uniforms and locker assignments for the 2014 season. All other paperwork on the Family ID website should also be submitted on or before the Aug. 10 meeting.
Anyone in grades 9-12 may tryout out for cross country. Athletes should be physically able to perform all aspects of workouts, including being able to run for 20-30 minutes without a break.

Golf tourney will benefit ’Topper baseball, softball
The Los Alamos Hilltopper baseball and softball teams will host their Diamonds in the Rough golf tournament Aug. 16.
The tournament will be at Los Alamos Golf Course.
Price for participation is $80. The fee includes a cart, T-shirt and dinner, as well as a chance to win prizes for participation.

Boys soccer starts Aug. 11
The Los Alamos Hilltopper boys soccer team will begin preseason tryouts Aug. 11.
The first three days of preseason will be two-a-day practices. The morning sessions will take place at 7:15 a.m. and the afternoon sessions at 4 p.m. For the first day, practices will be at Piñon Elementary School and the North Mesa soccer fields.
Tryouts are open to any boy entering grades 9-12. A physical examination and other needed online forms must be filled out prior to workouts.
Participants should bring soccer and running shoes, shin guards and water to every session.
