Bowling league open to new members

The Tuesday Housewives Bowling League is welcoming new bowlers for its upcoming season.
The league opens its 52nd year of competition Aug. 20. Events are held at the Santa Claran bowling alley.
Those interested in taking part in this year’s play are asked to call 661-6163.

Splash N Dash returns July 24

The Splash N Dash series, which is hosted by Triatomics Multisport Club, will have its next session July 24.
The series is designed for those interested in training for the Los Alamos Triathlon, which is scheduled for Aug. 17.
Participants can choose either a 400-yard swim and 5K run or 200-yard swim and 3K run. An additional shorter course is also available for youth participants.
All Splash N Dash events start at the Larry R. Walkup Aquatic Center.
Registration for each Splash N Dash is done about 30 minutes prior to the start at the aquatic center. There is no fee for participation but registration will be limited to the first 75 entrants.

Golf tourney to benefit Big Brothers Big Sisters

The Big Brothers Big Sisters of Northern New Mexico will host its second annual “Drive for Matches” tournament at Los Alamos Golf Course.
The Drive for Matches is scheduled for Saturday. Price for participation is $100 for each individual and $400 per team, which includes driving range balls, greens fees a golf cart, dinner and door prizes.
All proceeds from the tournament will benefit Big Brothers Big Sisters of Northern New Mexico.

Mud volleyball tournament returning

The Los Alamos County Recreation Division will host its ninth annual High Mountain Mudfest volleyball tournament Saturday on North Mesa.
The High Mountain Mudfest consists of adult co-ed teams playing volleyball in pits of mud.
Registration is underway. Participating teams must have between 6-12 players 18 years of age or older. All teams must have at least four women on the roster.
Price for participation is $130. Registration deadline is Thursday.

Youth soccer referee clinics scheduled in Albuquerque

Three upcoming soccer referee clinics are being offered in Albuquerque for those interested in officiating locally.
Los Alamos Youth Soccer League requires Game 9 certification, which is being offered at these clinics. Clinics will not be held in Los Alamos this year but the Albuquerque clinics are scheduled for Aug. 4 and Sept. 1.
To register, interested participants can visit nmsra.ezregister.com on the Internet.
There will also be a 2014 recertification clinic scheduled for Aug. 10-11 for existing referees. More information on that clinic can be found by visiting nmsra.org.
