Race will benefit disabled in Nicaragua
The David Fellers Healing Arts Foundation will host a 3-mile/6-mile run and wheelchair roll July 20 in Los Alamos.
The event will start at 2:30 p.m. at the west end of the Canyon Rim Trail.
The foundation works to equip the disabled poor in all parts of the world. This year’s proceeds will benefit a project in Puerto Cabezas, Nicaragua.
Price for participation is $25, $10 for youth. The entrance fee includes a post-race hot dog picnic and auction. Tickets for just the auction and picnic can also be purchased.

Volleyball camp opens Monday
The Los Alamos High School and Los Alamos Middle School volleyball programs will host a technique camp for players entering grades 5-9 starting Monday.
The camp, which runs through July 18 at Griffith Gymnasium, will focus on teaching general volleyball skills and situations that players will face in middle school-level competition. There will also be breakout sessions that focus on individual positions.
Player registrations will be accepted in advance or at the door. Camp will run from 5-7 p.m. each evening.

Soccer referee clinics scheduled in Albuquerque
Three upcoming soccer referee clinics are being offered in Albuquerque for those interested in officiating locally.
Los Alamos Youth Soccer League requires Game 9 certification, which is being offered at these clinics. The first clinic is scheduled for Saturday.
Saturday’s clinic will be for those interested in being referees for U14 and below competition. Other clinics are scheduled for Aug. 4 and Sept. 1.
There will also be a 2014 recertification clinic scheduled for Aug. 10-11 for existing referees.
