NMAA relesease spring sports championship schedule
The New Mexico Activities Association announced its schedule for the upcoming spring sports championship events.
The Class 4A event schedule is as follows:
• Tennis: May 8-11, Jerry Cline Tennis Center and Sierra Vista West Tennis Complex
• Baseball: May 10-11, home sites, May 16-18, Eldorado, La Cueva and Lobo Field
• Softball: May 10-11, home sites, May 16-18, Cleveland, Rio Rancho and Lobo Field
• Golf: May 13-14, New Mexico State University Championship Course (Las Cruces)
• Track and field: May 17-18, UNM Track and Field Complex
Tickets for baseball, softball and track are $8 for adults, $5 for students and seniors. Admission to tennis and golf is free.

Gold buying event will go toward helping LAHS athletics
Los Alamos High School’s athletic department is hosting a gold buying event May 5.
A certified and accredited gold buyer will be on hand between noon-4 p.m. that day to purchase unwanted gold, silver and platinum.
A portion of the proceeds from the buying event will go to benefit LAHS athletics and activities.
The gold purchase will be in the administration area of LAHS.

Run the Caldera set for May 11
The Valles Caldera National Preserve is hosting its eighth annual Run the Caldera June 8-9.
A 10K and half-marathon are scheduled for June 8 at the VCNP and a marathon is set for June 9.
The entry deadline for the event is May 10.

Bower 5K race will benefit research for Alzheimer’s disease
A race to raise funds for Alzheimer’s disease research is scheduled for May 11.
The Jerry Bower Memorial Run will begin at 9 a.m. May 11 at the Betty Ehart Senior Center.
Price for participation is $25. T-shirts are available to participants.
Race registrations forms are available at several locations throughout Los Alamos County. The form may also be downloaded at atomicrunners.com.

LAHS seeks “Rally4Rewards” votes
Los Alamos High School, along with other schools in the state, is taking part in the New Mexico Activities Association’s “Rally4Rewards” program.
In the NMAA program, one school from each of the state’s classifications will receive part of a $15,000 donation from U.S. Bank.
Winners of the donation will be determined by an online or drop-off vote.
Voters can place their votes online at facebook.com/usbank/app_471367646245378 or in any U.S. Bank branch office.
Schools will earn more points for drop-off votes than for online votes.
