Run For Her Life set for Sunday

The fourth annual Run For Her Life is scheduled for Sunday.

The Run For Her Life is a 5K and 10K race starting at East Park. Race time is 9 a.m.

Proceeds from the event are donated to charities in the area of breast cancer research.

Registration forms are available at the Larry R. Walkup Aquatic Center and several other spots around Los Alamos County. Electronic copies of the forms may also be found at atomicrunners.com.

Nukes take on Rio Rancho Saturday

The Los Alamos Nukes rugby club will face Rio Rancho at 5 p.m. Saturday. The game is scheduled to take place at Sullivan Field.
Los Alamos won its first game of the season last week, crushing Gallup 97-10 at home.
The Nukes are a high-school aged team that competes against various club programs around the state.
Admission to Saturday’s game and all Nukes home games is free.

Pitching, fielding camp coming to White Rock Saturday

The Albuquerque Baseball Academy will host a pitching and fielding camp for youth ages 7-13 in Los Alamos.
The camp is scheduled for Saturday at Overlook Park. The camp will be led by former professional players Ryan Brewer and Lauro Felix.

Price for participation is $65 per player, $5 of which will be donated to the Justin Solomon Cancer Fund.

Sr. Olympics registration is open

The Los Alamos Senior Olympic Games will be held locally starting April 11.

The local games run through May 13. A variety of different events are offered to participants.
To participate, entrants should be 50 years of age or older. Registration forms are available at the YMCA and will be accepted through Monday.

Slowpitch season gets going April 26

Registration is open for the upcoming slowpitch softball season.
The slowpitch league is for men’s and women’s teams. Games are played during the week at Overlook Park in White Rock.
The season starts April 26-27 with a tournament. The season runs through the end of July.
Price for participation is $575 per team. Registration fee and additional paperwork is due by April 18.
Additionally, a field work party is scheduled for April 12 at Overlook Park.
