Freeride team hosting dinner Saturday
The Pajarito Mountain Freeride team is hosting a fundraising dinner and movie Saturday.
The event, which will help send team members to the USASA national championship event, will be at Pajarito Mountain. The dinner starts at 6 p.m.
Saturday’s event will also include a movie premier of team highlights and an after-movie dance party.
Price for admission is $10. Donations may also be made by emailing email@example.com or dropping them off at Los Alamos National Bank.
Nukes host Las Cruces Saturday at Sullivan Field
The Los Alamos Nukes rugby team will host Las Cruces in a home match Saturday.
The Los Alamos-Las Cruces match is scheduled for 1 p.m. at Sullivan Field. Admission is free.
The Nukes participated in the High Desert Classic last weekend at Balloon Fiesta Park in Albuquerque. They dropped three contests, falling to El Paso (Texas) Cathedral 17-5, Las Cruces 17-12 and Volcano Vista 23-3.
Elk hunting deadline is tonight
The Valles Caldera National Preserve’s deadline for 2013 elk hunting permit lottery closes at midnight.
Interested hunters can purchase lottery drawing chances at $30 each for mature bull elk and $20 for antlerless elk. In all, VCNP is issuing 75 bull elk and 151 antlerless elk permits.

Church collecting used soccer equipment
Soccer equipment for children in the country of Uganda is being collected at the Crossroads Bible Church.
The church is located at 97 East Road in Los Alamos. Donations can be made there or at Time Out Pizza in White Rock.
Equipment such as balls, shoes, jerseys, shorts and shin guards are being requested.

Isotopes tickets on sale for 2013 season
Tickets for individual Albuquerque Isotopes home games are now on sale.
The Isotopes are the Triple-A farm team for the Los Angeles Dodgers. Their home-opening game is scheduled for April 4.
This season, 15 fireworks nights are scheduled, along with numerous game-day promotions.

Pace Race season begins April 2
The Atomic City Roadrunners running club will start its 40th Pace Race season April 2.
The first Pace Race of the season will begin at the Canyon Rim Trail parking lot off N.M. 502. Race time is 6 p.m.
Pace Races are a weekly event held Tuesdays between April and early October. They include 1- and 3-mile runs and walks at various locations around Los Alamos County.

LAHS seeks “Rally4Reward” votes
Los Alamos High School, along with other schools in the state, is taking part in the New Mexico Activities Association’s “Rally4Rewards” program.
In the NMAA program, one school from each of the state’s classifications will receive part of a $15,000 donation from U.S. Bank.
Winners of the donation will be determined by an online or drop-off vote.
Voters can place their votes online at facebook.com/usbank/app_471367646245378 or in any U.S. Bank branch office. Schools will earn more points for drop-off votes than for online votes.
