LALL organizational meeting is Tuesday at Mesa Public Library

An informational and organizational meeting for the upcoming Los Alamos Little League season is set for Tuesday.
The meeting will be at 6 p.m. It will be in Mesa Public Library’s third floor meeting rooms.
Anyone interested in coaching, helping organize or serving on the board for this year’s LALL season is invited to attend.

Renegades to visit ice rink again

The New Mexico Renegades semiprofessional hockey team will host the Wichita Thunder at Los Alamos County Ice Rink Feb. 9.
The Renegades, a Junior A team located who play in Rio Rancho, compete in the Western States Hockey League Mountain Division.
Pregame is scheduled to start at 4 p.m. Public skating will be available that day from 1-3:30 p.m.

Spring sports meeting set for Feb. 7

Los Alamos High School will host a spring parents meeting Feb. 7.
The meeting is for athletes participating in spring sports (baseball, softball, track and field, golf, softball, tennis). Immediately following the general parents meeting, which starts at 6 p.m., sports-specific meetings will be held.
Those parents who attended a general meeting earlier this academic year are not required to attend the Feb. 7 meeting but must attend the sports-specific meeting. More information can be obtained by calling 663-2531.

Women’s Weekend starts Feb. 8

Pajarito Mountain will host the fifth annual K2 Women’s Ski Weekend Feb. 8-10.
The event, which includes ski and equipment demonstrations, as well as ski lessons and several other activities, is held to raise money for breast and cervical cancer services and support.
If Pajarito Mountain is unable to host the event due to lack of snow, organizers said, the event will be moved to Taos.

Workshop for prospective college athletes set

Los Alamos High School athletic director Vicki Nelms will host a workshop for athletes interested in playing sports at the collegiate level.
The workshop is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. Feb. 6 at the LAHS speech theater. Any student and parents of students in grades 8-12 is invited to attend.
Topics covered will include NCAA and NAIA high school course requirements, clearinghouse information, SAT and ACT testing and recruiting information.
