Only three teams remain in the District 1 Majors All-Star softball tournament, being held at Overlook Park this weekend.
One of those teams, White Rock, now must win-out to advance to the state Majors tournament, after falling in an extra-inning thriller to Santa Fe Saturday.
With their win Saturday, Santa Fe’s All-Stars will have two cracks at the District 1 tournament title, the first of those coming Monday at 6 p.m.
Española is the other team still alive. After losing Friday night to Santa Fe, Española’s All-Stars bounced back nicely to thump Pecos.
Pecos was crushed in both its tournament games, being knocked out in Saturday’s loss to Española.
Española and White Rock will meet today at 1 p.m. in an elimination contest. The winner will advance to Monday’s final round against Santa Fe.
All District 1 tournament games are being played in White Rock.
Santa Fe 3, White Rock 2 (8 innings)
With White Rock’s All-Stars down to their last out, Erin Kirk dropped a base hit into short right field scoring both Kristin Christensen and Emilee Jones to force extra innings against Santa Fe’s All-Stars.
The game would go into extra innings before Santa Fe’s Arianna Lovato scampered home on a passed ball to break the 2-2 tie.
