Following a quiet first three offensive innings, the Los Alamos Hilltopper softball team exploded for five runs in the fourth inning of Monday’s game at Pojoaque (8-3).

Los Alamos survived a four-run rally in the bottom of the fifth and scored four more runs in the top of the seventh as it topped Pojoaque’s Elks 14-6.

Shelby Courtright and Ashley Valdez both knocked in runs for the Hilltoppers in the fourth inning, while in the sixth inning catcher Micaela Christensen launched a 3-run home run in the sixth which put Monday’s game out of reach.

Christensen, Los Alamos’ top hitter, went 2-for-5, also driving in two runs with a double in the top of the seventh.

Monday’s win was the third in a row for Los Alamos (6-7), all of those wins coming by eight runs or more.

On the slab, pitcher Stephanie Abney earned the victory going 4-plus innings, while ace Monika Teter earned the save.

Tina Radosevich, the No. 9 hitter, went 2-for-4 and scored a pair of runs Monday, while Courtright went 2-for-3, scored three runs and drove in two more.
