Soccer: LA earns 11 All-District team nods

Los Alamos boys and girls soccer players dominated the District 2AAAA team selections this year.The Hilltopper girls, winners of the District 2AAAA title, placed seven players on the All-District first team this season, as well as taking a second team selection and two honorable mentions.The Hilltopper boys, meanwhile, picked up four spots on the All-2AAAA first team, and four more second team spots, along with one honorable mention.Los Alamos’ boys finished as the 2AAAA runners-up behind Taos.Also, both Hilltopper boys head coach Evan Gartz and Hilltopper girls coach Jiri Kubicek were named Coaches of the Year by 2AAAA. Gartz earned his honor along with Jim Viera of Bernalillo.Los Alamos’ Desirae Hull and Ryota Shimada were picked as co-Players of the Year in 2AAAA (see story at right).
