Soccer: LA, Academy square off once again

Both the Los Alamos Hilltopper boys and girls soccer teams renew a long-standing rivalry this afternoon against the Albuquerque Academy Chargers.

The Hilltopper girls will travel to Albuquerque to face the Chargers, while the Hilltopper boys will host the Chargers at Sullivan Field.

Academy’s boys and girls eliminated both Los Alamos’ teams at the 2007 Class AAAA playoffs, the last time the teams met.

The Charger girls are 6-2 and coming off a third-place finish at the Academy Invitational this weekend. The Hilltopper girls (5-2) finished fifth in that same tournament.

Los Alamos’ boys (4-3) also placed fifth at the Academy tournament while the Charger boys (4-4) took fourth place.

Both games start at 4:30 p.m.

NOTE: The Los Alamos-Academy boys game will be broadcast on KRSN AM 1490.
