ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (AP) — Difficult driving conditions are being reported around New Mexico on Tuesday in the wake of a winter storm that has hit much of the state with snow and bitterly cold temperatures.
State Transportation Department crews are plowing and sanding highways, and drivers are being urged to use caution.
Much of Interstates 40 and 25 through the state are reported as snow-packed and icy.
Many schools throughout New Mexico were on a two-hour delay.
The New Mexico Public Regulation Commission in Santa Fe also was on a two-hour delay.
The National Weather Service says winter weather will impact New Mexico through Wednesday.
The weather service says moderate to heavy snow will spread into the western and central sections of the state as a second storm approaches Tuesday afternoon into Wednesday.
