Los Alamos police apprehended two suspects at Anderson Overlook Friday afternoon. The men are under investigation for a series of smash and grab thefts plaguing local car owners for some time. The two 18-year-olds drove up from Santa Fe with another man and reportedly smashed the windows on several car windows and grabbed items within reach including radar detectors and GPS devices.
Sgt. Fred Rascon, Sgt. Preston Ballew, Det. Jeremy Duran and officers Paige Early and Chris Ross gathered evidence at Anderson Overlook where the suspects, Aaron Roybal, 18, and Nathan Zamora, 20, were parked in their red 2007 Honda. A radar detector and a victim’s wallet were thrown over the guardrail and recovered among other items reported stolen.
Police captured a third suspect, Delbert Roybal, 21, hiding out at Smith’s Food and Drug Center on Central Avenue a short while later.
