Wesley Skidmore was awarded the rank of Eagle Scout at a Court of Honor on Dec. 26. Skidmore is a member of Boy Scout Troop 422 sponsored by the White Rock Ward of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
Special guests at the ceremony included Skidmore’s three older brothers Bradley, Gregory and Jeffrey Skidmore, who are also Eagle Scout recipients. Skidmore’s paternal grandfather, Edward Skidmore, was a special speaker at the ceremony on the theme, “A Century of Values.”
Skidmore has been active in the Boy Scouts of America since the age of eight. He earned the Arrow of Light award in Cub Scouting. He has completed 25 merit badges and has earned the On My Honor award, a religious award that can be earned by scouts in the LDS church. He is an Ordeal member of the Order of the Arrow. He currently serves as senior patrol leader for Troop 422.
For his Eagle Scout service project, Skidmore led the removal of an old chain link boundary fence at the LDS church in White Rock.
He is an eighth grader at Los Alamos Middle School where he enjoys basketball, football, wrestling and baseball. He is active in his church youth organization. Skidmore is the son of Cary and Wendy Skidmore of White Rock.
