.AN UPPER LEVEL STORM SYSTEM WILL TRACK SLOWLY SOUTH ACROSS NEW MEXICO TODAY AND TONIGHT. SNOW WILL INCREASE IN COVERAGE AND INTENSITY ACROSS MUCH OF CENTRAL AND NORTHERN NEW MEXICO TODAY BEFORE EXPANDING INTO THE SOUTHERN PART OF THE STATE THIS EVENING.

THE HEAVIEST SNOWFALL ACCUMULATIONS WILL FAVOR THE NORTHERN MOUNTAINS...ESPECIALLY THE EAST SLOPES OF THE SANGRE DE CRISTO MOUNTAINS AND ALONG INTERSTATE 40 FROM TIJERAS EAST TO TUCUMCARI. THE SNOW IS EXPECTED TO END FROM NORTHWEST TO SOUTHEAST DURING TUESDAY MORNING.

A WINTER STORM WARNING FOR HEAVY SNOW REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 11 AM MST TUESDAY. * SNOW ACCUMULATIONS...NEW SNOWFALL THROUGH EARLY TUESDAY WILL RANGE FROM 3 TO 6 INCHES BELOW 7500 FEET AND 6 TO 12 INCHES ABOVE 7500 FEET.
