Sidney N. Pinkston, 77, passed away peacefully surrounded by his loved ones on April 19. Sid, or Cork to his family, is preceded in death by his father James Pinkston; mother Zelma Goodge-Pinkston; brother James; and sisters: Phama, Ouida Schofield and Joyce Vance. Sid is survived by his loving wife Peggy, who has been honored to stand by his side for 55 years; his children: Larry Pinkston (Suzanne) and their daughter Rebecca of Oklahoma; Cydne Cochran (Tom) of Washington State and her children Richard Urbina and Amy Branch (Jared); Jennifer Stone(Edward) of Albuquerque and their children Jordan and Caitlin; and Daphne Schleft (Bill) of Los Alamos and their children Brandon, Ryan and Lauren. Sid also left a legacy of two great-grandchildren: Kadence and Chase Branch, many cherished nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews and many cousins.
After his graduation from high school in Wray, Colo., he joined the Army RA Infantry where he was a member of the 82nd Airborne, proudly earning his parachutist badge. Sid was a veteran of the Vietnam War, serving in the Navy Sea Bees, U.S. Mobile Construction Battalion 22, from 1967 through 1969 and continued his reserve duties in Los Alamos.
