Showering love on the community

First Baptist Church of Los Alamos has found a way to connect with the county and offer some tangible relief and assistance in these less than favorable economic times.

For the past two summers, they have encouraged church members and fellow neighbors to collect their gently used clothing and household items in order to offer a free garage sale to the city of Los Alamos.

This is an effort to help out those in the community who have been put in a tough situation in light of the nation’s current economic standing. Last summer, hundreds of people benefited from the free garage sale and had a great time spending the day enjoying the bounce houses, fire engines, games, hot dogs, snow cones and car washes.

The best part is that it was free to the public.

Through this event, the First Baptist Church members want to show God’s love by offering some very tangible love to the community. The event will occur again on July 18 on the church’s campus at 2200 Diamond Drive.

There will be live music, food and fun for kids and adults, door prizes donated by local businesses and of course a completely free garage sale. All of Los Alamos County is welcome to leave their money at home and come join in the fun. For more information, please call 662-3712 or e-mail curtis@fbclosalamos.org.
