Steve Shook was the big winner at the Pace Race Tuesday night.
Shook finished the Pace Race with a prediction error of just one second to win the weekly competition easily.
There were 40 runners and walkers taking part in the race, which started at San Ildefonso Road on Barranca Mesa. The winner of the weekly race is determined by who can mostly closely call their actual finish time.
Shook, who ran on the 3-mile course, won by 13 seconds over the next-best predictor, Mark Bjorklund. Jackie Peckham was third, finishing 21 seconds off.
The fastest finisher on the 3-mile course this week was Ted Romero, who finished in 21 minutes, 17 seconds. Nikol Strother finished in 21:28.
On the 1-mile course, Patricia Burnside (8:05) and Diego Leonard (11:27) were the top finishers.
The next Pace Race will take pace at 6 p.m. Tuesday.
The race starts about 3 miles west of the junction of N.M. 4 and Pajarito Road in White Rock.
