An upcoming all you can eat Kansas City Style Barbecue is the Santa Fe Community Farm’s first fundraising event to help raise awareness of the role that the farm plays in the local community and to increase support for their ongoing growth and commitment to providing fresh organic produce to those in need.
The fundraiser is sponsored by the Community Transformation Project in partnership with the Community Leadership Foundation and Organic Beginnings and is a final project that gives students the opportunity to put their leadership skills to work and see what it takes to create a successful fundraiser for a nonprofit organization.
The barbeque will raise funds to build a new greenhouse, which will enable the farm to grow fresh produce throughout the winter season.
Everyone is invited to attend the “Farm BBQ” on Sept. 21 for an all you can eat Kansas Style barbeque with entertainment provided by members of the Band Aguaybana, which features several members from local band Nosotros.
The event is scheduled from 5-10 p.m., Sept. 21 at the Municipal Recreation Center located at 205 Caja Del Rio Road in Santa Fe.
The goal is to invite folks to become involved with the farm’s mission and get involved with their cause to grow more food and provide easier access to fresh organic produce to those in need.
