Seven cars burglarized

A string of shattered windows and stolen property let area residents know that locking their car doors is not enough to keep their belongings safe. Car owners in seven households woke up Wednesday morning to find a variety of items from their cars had been stolen – in some cases through broken windows while in others the culprit or culprits opened unlocked doors to make off with everything from CDs to electronic equipment.Sgt. Jeff Regenold, Cpl. Oliver Morris and Ofc. Jeremy Duran of the Los Alamos Police Department responded to the calls from those victimized by the overnight crime spree:

 • A 17-year-old youth reported someone stole a snowboard and electronic equipment from his vehicle parked in the 900 block of Capulin Road. The estimated loss is $600.

 • A 38-year-old Los Alamos woman reported someone stole a radar detector from her vehicle parked in the 2400 block of 36 Street. The estimated loss is $120.

 • A 50-year-old Los Alamos man reported someone broke the window on his car parked in the 3000 block of Trinity Drive. No items were reported missing.

 • A 45-year-old Santa Fe man reported someone stole a jumpstarter and tools from his car parked in the 4100 block of Arkansas Avenue. The estimated loss is $230.
