SANTA FE, N.M. (AP) — The Senate has confirmed retired Air Force Col. Michael Duvall as secretary of the state Department of Homeland Security and Emergency Management.
Duvall is the third member of Republican Gov. Susana Martinez's cabinet to win confirmation.
The Senate voted unanimously on Wednesday in favor of Duvall's nomination.
He was commander of the 377th Air Base Wing at Kirtland Air Force Base in Albuquerque from July 2008 to April 2010, when he retired.
Duvall is a 1984 Air Force Academy graduate.
