Self Help Inc, a locally-based non-profit dedicated to assisting those residing in Northern New Mexico since 1969 has up to $1000 “seed money” available to individuals and small businesses seeking skill improvement, equipment and resources to further their businesses and enhance financial self-reliance.
The seed money is provided by Self Help to parties chosen through an application process and approved by our board of directors. Those residing in Rio Arriba, Los Alamos, Southern Taos and Northern Santa Fe counties are eligible to apply. There are no set deadlines, but rather applications are taken on a first-come, first-served basis. All applications will be thoroughly read and reviewed. To obtain an application please contact the Self Help office in Los Alamos at 662-4666.
Past recipients of seed money have included Amy Quirke of Intergalactic Bread Company, a locally-based baker who increased her output and sales at local farmers markets through Self Help’s grant.
Another success is Chimayo artist Liz Gold, who used her seed money to purchase a printer capable of printing large-size photographs which she could sell for profit.
