Young Los Alamos scientists will gather this weekend at the LAMS cafeteria and gymnasium to show off their experiments during the Los Alamos County Science Fair.
Two hundred thirty-one students will participate in the fair, with students in kindergarten through fifth grade, as well as those in fourth through 12th grade showing their individual and team projects.
Student check in is today from 3:45-6 p.m. and project judging will be from 8 a.m.-noon Saturday. Only sixth through 12th graders will present their projects to more than 75 judges from the district and local organizations.
Public viewing of the projects will be from 1-2 p.m. Saturday. The kindergarten through fifth grade awards ceremony will be at 4 p.m., while the sixth through 12th grade ceremony will be at 5 p.m. in the LAMS gym.
Los Alamos National Laboratory is the corporate sponsor of the Regional Qualifiers and Best of Show awards, while Portage, Inc. and the J. Robert Oppenheimer Memorial Committee are sponsoring the T-shirt give-away for all science fair participants.
